Revision 2024 Orga Call

Posted by Shana
Revision is the biggest pure demoscene event in the world - and roundabout 60 volunteers make it possible. Come join us to have the best Easter weekend for you, us, and the demoscene!

We are looking for people with the English skill and attitude that makes them great working in a multi-national team, and who are as excited as we are to make this party great for everyone.

You’ll need to be in the E Werk from the Wednesday before Revision to the Tuesday after, to help us build up and tear everything down. Being on time and reliable is very important to everyone in your team, so we’re able to share the workload fairly.

If you’ve been an orga at a demoparty before you’ll know the score, but previous experience is not essential.

Are you interested, especially in the openings posted below?
Then drop us a message at hotline-2024@revision-party.net!

Event Runners & Stage-Hands
------------------------------------------------

You are the lifeline of every event happening on Revision: ensuring that our two stages as well as the Seminar area have all the equipment they need, as well as coordinating with Hosts, Live Acts and Event Technicians that everyone and everything is available according to the timetable.

Main Duties:
- Help during build-up with stage build-up, cabling and equipment management
- Work with the Event team to ensure equipment readiness for all events
- Keep equipment sorted, in good condition and ready to be picked up on a moment’s notice
- liaise with live acts, hosts, event technicians and organisers to anticipate needs and set up equipment on time

We are looking for someone who:
- has basic knowledge about AV and DJ equipment
- has a knack for inventory management and can oversee a lot of moving parts with a clear head
- is able to do physical labour, such as heavy lifting and moving through the location a lot

Network Team
------------------------

The team that just doesn’t do the meme “Notwork Team” justice: while things during the party might run smoothly, this is only thanks to their work beforehand! Sysadmins and network specialists, we are looking for YOU!

Main Duties:
- Help during buildup (ability to work physically strongly required):
- moving equipment, puling network- and power cables
- taping/attaching cables to the floor and walls
- hanging up Wifi access points
- Help tearing down all the cabling and equipment again after the party
- Solve issues and problems that might arise during the event with network, servers, power and phones
- Escalate to Network Lead and Mainorga in case of outages

We are looking for people who:
are able to perform physical labour, and are rather practical problem solvers
- Can work under pressure, are highly reliable, and can work in a team.
- Are comfortable communicating in English.
- Preferably have some affinity with network cabling and/or power.

Event Technicians
-----------------------------

While we do have hired help, Revision wouldn’t be possible without the professional event staff amongst our organisers. They are the ones bringing you the Revision-experience that leaves us in awe year after year.

Main Duties:
- Help and oversee parts of the build-up and tear-down, liaise and coordinate hired event technicians
- Liaise with event venue personnel, resolve or escalate problems with the team
- Pre-Program and live-control stage and ambient lighting during events

We are looking for someone who:
- has a profound level of knowledge , setting up light and Sound/PA equipment including cabling, rigging, and/or power network planning
- has profound knowledge of current safety standards for event tech
- is good at coordinating helpers, technicians and activities
- Operating/Programming experience with grandMA 2 lightdesk is a big plus

Social Media
---------------------

Revision’s online presence has been continuously growing over the past decade - in the meantime, a lot of people first learn about the demoscene through shares, likes and posts during Easter time. This is in no small parts thanks to a dedicated team that experiments with different content for our social media platforms.

Main Duties:
- Manage our official Revision Social Media Channels (Mastodon, Meta, Twitter/X, Bluesky)
- Prepare larger posts e.g. for Pouet, Discord and our website
- Experiment with and explore new avenues for outreach (e.g. TikTok, short-form content)
- Help amplifying other non-profit organisations within the demoscene throughout the year

We are looking for someone who:
- Has very good English skills in writing
- Is available at least two weeks prior and one week after Revision for regular announcement posts and community engagement
- desirably also willing to connect with the community throughout the year
- Has some image and possibly video-editing skills. Experience with short-format animation is desired, but not a must.
- Is curious about social media channels and different content formats
- This position is also explicitly suitable for people with handicaps or that otherwise cannot make it to the physical event itself

Infoteam
---------------

They are the face of Revision, and for some the first impression they get of the demoscene at large. Embark on the fastest way to meet new people and make a lot of friends at a demoparty - Join our Infoteam!

Main Duties:
- Manage admission of visitors, answer questions, sell beverages
- First point of contact for the visitors, and distribute requests to all other teams (e.g. compo, recording, seminar, events, etc)
- Liaise with the security personnel and escalate any issues to the shift lead or main organisers

We are looking for someone who:
- Likes to engage with people, and is a creative, ad hoc problem solver
- Is fluent in English, additional languages are a plus (German is NOT needed)
- Is willing to work 4 shifts during the party (2x 4h + 2x 6h) with ca 5 other orgas
