Graphics 3D/2D for oldskool Mac (~1995)
Last year I got 4th at Assembly 2024 with a demo for the 1995-era Macintosh (targeted the low-end Performa 5200, 75 MHZ). The tech is pretty great, no other game or demo for Mac has a faster software rasterizer nor real-time lighting. However, the demo should have been stronger in design and graphics - it was mostly an afterthought and last-minute.
I always wanted the Mac to have something to show as a counter to the great 1995 PC demos but I don't think Mac is there yet.
In 2025 I want to collaborate with others that can push the art (design, low poly 3D, texturing, 2D art) and together make a great demo for this platform. Planning for Assembly summer 2025 oldskool compo (and more after that).
I'm not interested in AI art at all. I hope to collaborate with someone who knows the art fundamentals and has spent a considerable amount of time drawing and working with 2D or 3D and wants to do something cool.
As for formats, 320x240x16bit resolution, and 640x480x8bit. I will write some scripts/tooling to convert art assets (e.g. GLTF and png).
I'm in Spain Barcelona, I speak Swedish and English (I speak a little bit of Spanish and French as well but not enough to collaborate in them). I can collaborate with any timezone (we will figure it out).
